“Missionary So We Can Keep Arguing” was created in May 2025. From the first glance, it just felt right. It was one of those pieces that was designed in less than a day - the thing that is hard to explain but just comes to you. It was definitely one of the more provocative FRASED pieces but a shirt we would love to wear ourselves: easy to style & recognize and just close enough without crossing the line entirely...
We wanted a shirt that caught the eye with a provocative first word and loosening it up with a punchline about the kind of relationship where even an argument somehow becomes part of the attraction. You read MISSIONARY, expect one thing, and the rest of the sentence changes the meaning. That quick turn is the whole design.
Why the quote felt right
“Missionary” was actually a part of a longer quote we saw on X, and i caught our eye immediately. After a few hours, the design was ready with the “So we can keep arguing” part which turns it into a joke instead of some super sexual shirt. We wanted to avoid that.
It tells the story of two people who cannot leave their debate alone. It is suggestive and self-aware without needing an explanation underneath. The person wearing it gets to decide how much of the joke is about them.
We like quotes that make sense on an ordinary day as well as on a night out. This one is an icebreaker when someone reads it from across the room, but it can also just be part of an outfit. The balance between a bold big word and an easy-to-wear tee is what makes it feel like FRASED.
A simple layout with a lot behind it

Our archive shows two artwork exports dated 4 May 2025. A separate white file in the same folder shows a later August 2026 date; we do not treat that file as evidence of the original launch.
The finished graphic looks simple. Getting it to feel that way took care. We considered the typeface, the weight of the letters, the spacing between individual characters and the space between lines. The shirt has to work when somebody catches just the first word, and when they get close enough to read the rest.
When we design for FRASED, we talk a lot about the balance of a quote. Here, MISSIONARY is the headline. SO WE CAN KEEP ARGUING is the smaller line that changes it. The FRASED mark finishes the composition without competing with the joke and giving it balance. On the black tee, the white print is chosen. And for this exact tee, we sell it in the light grey "ash" color with an almost black print to match the aethetics of the shirt.
From our design files to someone’s wardrobe
The two dated artwork exports in our archive show 4 May 2025. The tee was created in Shopify on the same calendar day, and the order shown below was placed on 6 May 2025. Those records, an early sale, and a traceable timeline ensures that FRASED is the original makers of this design.

Privacy-redacted visual reproduction of an early order from 6 May 2025. Customer details, tracking and order identifiers have been removed. The original record is retained privately by FRASED.
We keep these files and commerce records because they show how a design travels: from the artwork folder, to the product page, to a real person's wardrobe. It is a small part of the history of this shirt, but an important one to us.
Then people made it their own
The best part comes after a shirt leaves our store. People decide how to style it, where to wear it and whether to share it. The Story below is a quiet moment: a folded white tee on a table, tagged back to FRASED after it arrived. It is exactly the kind of unprompted glimpse we love seeing.

The design went beyond the original classic tee. FRASED also offers a hoodie and a fitted baby tee, so the same design can be worn in different ways. We like the contrast between its sharp humour and how naturally it fits into everyday clothes.

When the 'fake copies' started appearing
As more and more people loved the design, we began seeing merchants like Amazon & TEMU copying our famous “Missionary but something ain't right” design. Also small shops in the space such as NOFLTRS.com or etsy sellers offer copies of the FRASED design — mind you, those are not FRASED products.
The FRASED piece has its own design history: the typography, spacing, colour and composition shown in our dated artwork and early order records above. Seeing the same words or similar design on another shirt does not mean they even made it.

Still one of our favourites
A graphic tee can make a simple outfit feel more personal. This one begins with a word you cannot ignore, then becomes a little more playful when you read the whole thing. That second look is what we hoped for.
The photo below shows two people making the design their own: the fitted baby tee beside the classic tee. The words are the same, but the outfits and the people wearing them give the quote a life beyond our original layout.
Missionary so we can keep arguing. We still love every part of this design and we are ready to argue about it.
